Aiyegbeni wants Leicester stay after debut goal

Nigeria forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni has already declared he wants to stay at Leicester City.

Aiyegbeni scored brace on his home league debut in 4-2 victory over Millwall after arriving on loan from Everton.

"I want to stay and win promotion. If we can reach the play-offs then we have a real chance," Aiyegbeni said.

Leicester boss Goran Eriksson had special praise for Ayegbeni over his performance in front of thousands of Foxes fans, "Yakubu is real class and takes a shot so quickly and goalkeepers are always going to have real difficulties with that. He will do very good for us."

Eriksson is however confident his side can make the Championship play-offs following their win over Millwall on Saturday. The Foxes are unbeaten at home in the Championship since Eriksson took over in October and the Swede is excited for the future.

He said: "This was a good win. Millwall are difficult to play against. They are very direct and always fighting for the ball.

"But we played good football and deserved to win, absolutely. We have made a good start to 2011. I still believe we can at least reach the play-offs. I want to take this club up to the Premier League and stay there."
