Goodluck Jonathan Heading to Soul for global nuclear security summit


Abuja, Nigeria (PANA) - Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan will leave the capital city of Abuja on Saturday for Seoul, as the head of Nigeria’s delegation to the World Nuclear Security Summit due to open in the South Korean capital on Monday.

A Nigerian presidency statement obtained by PANA here said Friday President Jonathan and about 52 other Heads of State and international organizations are expected to participate in the summit, which will discuss global cooperative measures to combat the threat of nuclear terrorism.

The protection of nuclear materials and related facilities as well as the prevention of illicit trafficking in nuclear materials are also on the agenda of the summit.

On the sidelines of the summit, President Jonathan will also hold bilateral talks with other world leaders and meet with representatives of the Nigerian Community in South Korea.

The President is scheduled to return to Abuja on Wednesday.
