Ghanaian Kamoko retains WBO Africa light heavyweight title - Ghanaian Brimah Kamoko on Sunday in Accra, Ghana, survived a first-round knockdown to retain his World Boxing Organization (WBO) Africa Light heavyweight title after his Ugandan opponent, Hamza Wandera, refused to continue the fight in the third round.
Wandera, protesting against what looked like a foul by Komoko, turned his back twice and refused to continue fighting, forcing referee Roger Barnor to end the bout.
Wandera floored Kamoko, his first knockdown in a flourishing career, in round one but failed to capatalise on the advantage.
By the victory, Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku, takes his fight record to 23 victories and no loss.
He described the bout as a tough one, saying his opponent is a good boxer.
Wandera said: 'Kamoko was going to hack me more in the ring without referee warning him that is why I had to leave the fight. Next time if they call for an international fight the referee should not be a ‘Kamoko man.’'
