Corps Members to henceforth be deployed to key sectors - Goodluck

President Goodluck Jonathan has given his approval for corps members to henceforth be deployed to sectors of rural health, primary and secondary education, rural infrastructural development and agricultural development under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Information said the new posting policy is to discourage highly placed government officia...ls and influential members of the society from seeking for concessionary posting for prospective corps members specifically to metropolitan cities like Abuja and Lagos.

In a circular issued recently by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim to top government functionaries, the government noted that the scheme since inception has been distorted and abused, thus defeating its purpose which is to facilitate national integration and economic transformation amongst others.

Categories of persons eligible for concessionary postings however include married women, those with peculiar health related issues or physical disabilities.
